ऋग्वेद आर्यों एवं भारतीयों की ही नहीं, विश्व की सब से प्राचीन पुस्तक है। वेदों को अपौरुषेय कहा गया है । भारतीय धर्म संस्कृति एवं सभ्यता का भव्य प्रासाद जिस दृढ़ आधारशिला पर प्रतिष्ठित है, उसे वेद के नाम से जाना जाता है । भारतीय आचार- विचार, रहन- सहन तथा धर्म- कर्म को भली- भाँति समझने के लिए वेदों का ज्ञान बहुत आवश्यक है । सम्पूर्ण धर्म- कर्म का मूल तथा यथार्थ कर्तव्य- धर्म की जिज्ञासा वाले लोगों के लिए “वेद” सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रमाण हैं । “वेदोऽखिलो धर्ममूलम्” “धर्मं जिज्ञासमानाना प्रमाणं परमं श्रुति:” (मनु ०२.६, १३) जैसे शास्त्रवचन इसी रहस्य का उद्घाटन करते हैं । वस्तुत: “वेद” शाश्वत- यथार्थ ज्ञान राशि के समुच्चय हैं जिसे साक्षात्कृतधर्मा ऋषियों ने अपने प्रातिभ चक्षु से देखा है- अनुभव किया है । ऋषियों ने अपने मन या बुद्धि से कोई कल्पना न करके एक शाश्वत अपौरुषेय सत्य की, अपनी चेतना के उच्चतम स्तर पर अनुभूति की और उसे मंत्रों का रूप दिया । वे चेतना क्षेत्र की रहस्यमयी गुत्थियों को अपनी आत्मसत्ता रूपी प्रयोगशाला में सुलझाकर सत्य का अनुशीलन करके उसे शक्तिशाली काव्य के रूप में अभिव्यक्त करते रहे हैं । वेद स्वयं इनके बारे में कहता है- “सत्यश्रुत: कवयः” (ऋ० ५.५७.८) अर्थात् ‘दिव्य शाश्वत सत्य का श्रवण करने वाले द्रष्टा महापुरुष ।’ इसी आधार पर वेदों को “श्रुति” कहकर पुकारा गया । यदि श्रुति का भावात्मक अर्थ लिया जाय तो वह है स्वयं साक्षात्कार किये गये ज्ञान का भण्डागार । इस तरह समस्त धर्मों के मूल के रूप में माने जाने वाले देवसंस्कृति के रत्न- वेद हमारे समक्ष ज्ञान के एक पवित्र कोष के रूप में आते हैं । ईश्वरीय प्रेरणा से अन्तःस्फुरणा के रूप में ‘आत्मवत् सर्वभूतेषु’ की भावना से सराबोर ऋषियों द्वारा उनका अवतरण सृष्टि के आदिकाल में हुआ ।

The Rigveda is the oldest book of the world, not only of Aryans and Indians. The Vedas have been called Apaurusheya. The firm foundation on which the grand palace of Indian religion, culture and civilization is established, is known as Veda. Knowledge of Vedas is very important to understand Indian ethics – thoughts, living and religion – well. Complete Dharma- The basic and true duty of Karma- “Vedas” are the best proof for those who are curious about religion.The scriptures such as “Vedokhilo Dharmamoolam” “Dharmam curiosity-proof evidence Paraman Shruti:” (Manu 0.2, 13) inaugurate this mystery. In fact, the “Vedas” are a set of eternal – real knowledge zodiac, which the Sagekatadharma Rishis have seen from their own glory eye. The sages, with no imagination from their mind or intellect, made an eternal extraordinary truth, realized it at the highest level of their consciousness and gave it the form of mantras.They have solved the mysterious knots of the consciousness field in their labyrinth-like laboratory and practiced the truth and expressed it as powerful poetry. The Veda itself says about them- “Satyashruta: Kavayah” (R5.57.7) means ‘the great seer who listens to the divine eternal truth.’ On this basis, the Vedas were called “Shruti”. If the emotional meaning of Shruti is taken, then it is the storehouse of self-interviewed knowledge.In this way, the Vedas, the jewels of the Deity of Culture, considered as the origin of all religions, come before us as a sacred treasure of knowledge. His incarnation by the sages, who were filled with the spirit of ‘Atman sarvabhuteshu’ in the form of inner inspiration (Ilam) by divine inspiration, took place in the beginning of creation.
